Nicki Minaj has admitted to feeling “emotional” whenever she thinks of her family in New York.

In her cover story feature with The FADER, Nicki confessed to feelings of guilt after leaving her younger brother behind in New York to pursue her music career.

The 31-year-old - who is rumoured to be engaged to her long-time partner Safaree Samuels - said her younger brother who recently turned 16, was only a child when she signed her record deal and left the family home. She also revealed that she was upset when she discovered that her younger brother once asked if she would ever return home to live with him.

She said: “One day he asked my mother, ‘Do you ever think there’ll come a time we all live in the same house again, and Onika [Nicki] will be back and she’ll have her room, and I’ll have my room?’ … And it just broke my heart.”

The ‘Starships’ singer went on to say how such stories make her miss her home in New York, adding: “I don’t want to get emotional … I just miss them. Every time I talk about them, I get emotional.”

Following on from the success of Charli XCX’s latest AMAZING track ‘You’re The One’, she’s just announced her next one, which is called ‘So Far Away’. Combining her sweet, melancholic voice with rap is an innovative path for her and this video is like an explosion of gifs and Myspace backgrounds circa 2007. I LOVE HER.

I don’t think I’ve talked about Lady Leshurr before, but she’s got some serious flow, and if you don’t believe me you can check out her SBTV sessions (She’s also the nicest female rapper from Birmingham). Of course, not just her sessions, but her new mixtape which was released last night. L Yeah! follows up from her previous free mixtape Friggin L which featured this amazing sampling of Lil Wayne’s ‘6FT 7FT’ beat. L Yeah is free and available HERE. She’s going to be huge, you’d be silly not to give this a listen. View high resolution

Angel Haze- New York’s hottest new rapper

New York is churning them out in recent years, right? First Nicki Minaj, then Azealia Banks, and it looks like Angel Haze is going to be the next female New York rapper to dominate the world. Earlier today she dropped her single, coincidentally, called ‘New York’. It’s pretty sick. In fact, Pitchfork have already given it the accolade of being “Best New Track”.

Her confident rap skills and lyrical speed is enough to make anyone sit up and take notice of this girl, not only because she has emerged from just being on the internet, but because she’s only 20 years old.

The track can be downloaded here, and is taken from her forthcoming Reservation EP, which I am of course excited for, and you should be too!

Turns out, Nicki Minaj 5 years ago is better than the robot which she has become.

New single by Steve Aoki feat Iggy Azalea. Not sure to be honest, it’s a bit mental but kind of fun too. PARTY ON YA FACE. Bit of a betrayal of my beloved Azealia Banks posting this because of her & Iggy’s beef, but it’s still pretty fun!

NEW AZEALIA BANKS! JUMANJI

Azealia is knocking the hits out at the moment. Here is her newest track Jumanji, produced by Hudson Mohawke and Nick Hooktaken from her forthcoming 1991 EP.
